The birth day

17 Sep

We woke at 06:10 and got our selves together I know Jamie was upset that labour hadn’t progressed at all over night but we said our goodbyes to Reagan and set off to the hospital arriving at hospital just before 8 (see High Blood Pressure and the following one’s)
The surgeon came to us and explained perfectly our options and I saw Jamie realise it was HER decision but her decision had implications on the health and safety of our unborn child and after over 30 hours since her waters broke she realised it would be dangerous to attempt a natural birth but it was still her decision. In the end some soul searching she consented to a planned C Section and she was thinking of her unborn baby and knew it was the right thing.
After that things happened pretty fast were told to get ready and Jamie was then whisked off to be prepped and I was left to get my baggy greens on and wait to be called
In theatre we were holding hands and whispering to each other but it was very swift and at 11:55 Lincoln Jay gave thunderous cry to anounce his arrival and Jamie and me sighed with relief On the radio I remember hearing Don’t want to miss a thing by Aerosmith and thought it was so apt.
I was then sent away by Jamie to follow Lincoln where I watched the Pediatrician give a clean bill of health then got to cut a HUGE cord and noticed a lot of white merconium on his bum which the midwife pointed out was unusual considering the 9 days overdue?
Thumbs up to momma as she lay in the other room, speaking of thumbs Lincoln was not 4 minutes old and he was sucking his thumb and if he wasn’t he was sucking and routing for anything else to suck I think needing mommy and booby lol
Lincoln and I then sat with momma while she was sewn back up and then went to recovery to wait her arrival
As with my last visit to that room I wanted to let Pam know first that she was a Grandma this time for a second time though. It means alot to me to make Pam as big of a part of all this and our lives in general and little thing like sending her the first message and the first picture I hope goes some way to doing that!
As I handed Jamie Lincoln and she sorted out skin to skin contact, then wrapped both up again I handed her, her Blackberry and then it was a free for all on sending out our news and ‘boy’ did it spread fast lol
After a little worrying blood pressure tests where Jamie showed very low pressure some fluids brought them back up and we went up to the ward where we began to reflect on what we ahd just done and to get to know Lincoln.
