Friday with unwelcome guests!

18 Sep

Friday dinnertime I sat eating my spam butties and noticed both Jack and Sasha were both scratching and that is unusual and a quick check under Jacks collar after finishing me dinner confirmed my suspicions.
We had FLEAS oh my god Noooooooo!
So I went back to work and left Jamie to it hahaha my parting gesture was to get Jack outside and tell her to find Sasha and lock her out to!
At work I chatted to as many of the nurses and vets I could on our best coarse of action and we came up with a dose of frontline spot on dogs for Jack and a third of a dose of the same stuff for Sasha. We also bought some spray to fumigate the downstairs of the house to rid us of the little fu.. Critters!
While I did this Jamie took Reagan upstairs for the rest of the night so she was not exposed to any of this which left me to clear all her stuff out of the living room and kitchen and do the deed!
Our planned “date” night would have to wait, a night we had planned a couple of days earlier to allow us some time for us and try not to worry so much about Reagan for a couple of hours.
I think we have broken the cycle now and certainly Jack is free from them but Sasha needed another dose on Saturday because she was scratching so much. Jamie has “hoovered the shit” out of the carpets and I’m sure that will continue until she is confident there are no more critters left!
Reagan woke us at 4am for a feed which I immediately volunteered to take care of but upon going down stairs to make a bottle found the medication had effected Jack in a way I will not be going into too much detail about suffice to say that it is not what I want to be clearing up at 04:20 after failing to stop my daughter screaming at me for more food for 20 minutes but these things are sent to try us so they say….?
I was again woken at around 07:00 by Jack continually banging on the gate between the kitchen and the living room so I went down to see what was wrong fearing the worst but was pleased to see Jack dart to the door to be let out which I did as he was desperate to “GO” again! Unfortunately he had been sick in the kitchen since 4am but at least he had gone to the garden for the other so again I was mop in had bleaching the whole kitchen. He is 13 years old and a survivor of a serious blood disorder a few years back and obviously the meds entering his bloodstream didn’t agree to well with him!
He seems ok now though.
