2022

I enjoyed last night’s game even at 27-0 down and the O-Line being over run every snap it was OK because that’s what I was expecting, it’s been like that all season and two of our o-line were on the practice squad mid week but something clicked with the offense, just before the half.

The Denver D picked Mahomes twice and we scored from both resulting possessions and then scored again straight after halftime, KC looked rattled and yes it crossed my mind that a miracle could happen, but as Wilson left the field with concussion our chances diminished considerably but what a game after the garbage we have endured upto now even in our 3 wins.

Russ can still play so there is hope but big changes are needed because with his contract he is around for at least 2 more years so whether Hackett survives or not (let’s pray its the latter!) improving the O-line has to be a priority with our limited draft picks and our unlimited cash in free agency!

George Paton has his work cut out if he remains after January 8th…?

The children have been working hard for the last few Sundays to put on a Christmas play and dance extravaganza and this morning was the show and what a show! Reagan was dancing first and then sang while Lincoln was a puppeteer first and danced second both were so good, as were all the children, they made me smile and burst with pride. I sat there thinking just how happy I was feeling right there and the rest of the day I just felt bullet proof…

After church we went to meet up with the camping gang at the White Bear and had some lunch and a good laugh with good people while all the kids played games and went to the park.

I sat and created next year’s calendar afterwards while Reagan and Lincoln went back to church for their Christmas party, and looking through the photos to put in the calendar and realised we had not done the annual Thanksgiving pic.The next few minutes were so much fun trying to get both of them to pose…

Even watching the Denver Broncos getting trampled by the Chiefs isn’t denting my mood when at 27 – 0 we looked like it was going to be the expected train wreck but as I write this post the Broncos have just picked Mahomes twice and scored 2 TDs to finish the half 27 – 14 so at least it’s not going to be a shutout let’s see what happens in the second half, miracles can happen?

We bought a LG TV 3 weeks ago and since then we have suffered the sound dropping out every minute or so for less than a second when watching the Sky Q box. I have been troubleshooting it for the last couple of weeks and narrowed it down to the Sky box, so I had a Sky engineer swap the box and asked if he’d seen this fault before but he toed the company line and said he’s swapped the box and the HDMI cable so it’s nothing to do with Sky!

I rang LG and they said does it happen when watching the TV apps and when I said it didn’t they said its nothing to do with them then and I sort of agreed with them but that didn’t help fix the issue!

At a loss to know what to do I re-read the forums I had been reading since it started and found what I think is the cure:

Press the ‘Home’ button on your Sky remote control.
Scroll down to ‘Settings’.
When you arrive at ‘Settings’ please do not press the enter/select button.
Enter the sequence 001 and press the enter/select button. You will now enter the engineering menu. The message “These settings should only be changed if you’ve been instructed to by Sky” will pop up. Now select the ‘Network’ menu. Here you have the options to separately turn 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz wireless on or off. You also have the opportunity to set the channel(s) used by the 5 GHz Wi-Fi. Make sure you turn off both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz and select ‘Confirm’.

Well I have been watching the Sky Q box all night an it has cured it so far…?

Even better this website has been under attack from a bot registering new users every 5 minutes and I have been trying to cure this for probably as long as the sound issue but it was only this afternoon I realised I didn’t need a registration page because only Mommy is allowed to read my blog and if anyone else wants to I can manually add them, so I removed the page and looped the links to it back to the login page and the bot registrations have stopped!

Good day, fingers crossed!

I have just watched England lose to France in the quarter-finals of the World Cup 2022 and although we played really well especially in the second half, we were slow out of the blocks in the first half and were 1 nil down at half time. In the second half we ran France ragged for long periods and forced 2 penalties which Harry Kane took, scoring the first making it 1 – 1 but when we were awarded the second the scoreline was 2 – 1 with 8 minutes to go and England HAD to score.

Harry skied it and we never recovered even missing a free kick at the death to stay in in it but Rushford did not have magic in his golden boots and out we went!

It’s not coming home….

Lincoln had a busy night at his school Christmas fair taking part in the KS2 Choir and playing his saxophone in the school orchestra alongside selling hot chocolate reindeer bags for the Dragons Den project his class have been working on for weeks.

He did brilliantly at all three and watching him and his friends now the elders of the school, made me feel proud and a little sad that he has achieved so much in such a short time since he began his Middlewich Primary school journey. It has been a good school and both children have flourished during their time there but this fair was our last as Lincoln will move on in summer and join his sister at MHS

Tonight was his night though and he looked like he enjoyed it as much if not more than we did which is the main thing

It was COLD this morning -2? and the kids took great pleasure in reading off the forecast from their phones that it is going to snow for a week starting at 5pm tonight! Reagan was so excited at the thought of snow but Lincoln’s excitement was tempered by the killjoys at school who hate snow., they don’t allow snowman building or snowballs and we are not allowed on the field or on the play areas, Daddy? Same in my day son the health and safety gone mad…

I took Billy for a walk at about 8:15 and made my  around the usual night route thinking I might see Reagan and Lincoln walking to school. I was too late for Reagan but saw Lincoln walking towards me as I approached the canal bridge but he was looking down messing with his coat. There was only one thing to do, as I got close to him I shouted WHAT YOU DOING as loud as I could and he almost jumped out of his coat. The look on his face was a picture and he was shaking as I reached him and gave him a hug.

The temperature never really got above freezing which probably didn’t help the limping lady horse diver who was still feeling the effects of her fall yesterday and would have benefited from sun not Siberia on her school run.

Big day tomorrow for both children Reagan has a Christmas bake-off competition at school and spent this evening creating this:

Lincoln will be busy at his school Christmas fayre taking part in the orchestra, the choir and has created hot chocolate bags for a Dragons Den project they have been working on for weeks and need to sell them at the fayre to see if they can make a profit which he is super excited about but more of that tomorrow.

I went to pick up Reagan from horse riding tonight after work, it was pitch black when I arrived but luckily having been tgere in daylight i was able to find my way to yhe arena. She was riding Rocky in a pretty busy room and she looked so confident trotting around with all the other riders and really looked like she belonged in there!

It was freezing cold so even though it was brilliant to watch her ride and jump over the fences the girls had set up, I didn’t have a coat and it was extremely dusty too so I said I would go and wait in the warmth of the car and left.

About 20 minutes later she appeared and got in the car telling me she’d fallen off her horse quite hard for the first time. She said she got straight back on but she was now complaining about a sore back and butt and winced as I dro e over even the smallest bumps in the road.

Once home the pain was in her hip and paracetamol and a hot bath was about the best she could do for a probable bruised so after that she hobbled about until bed. It’s a dangerous sport and a swollen sore hip will be the result of the fall tomorrow and is a reminder to her and us that she MUST respect the dangers and always be careful.

We walked Billy tonight and looked at the Christmas lights appearing all over Middlewich as we wandered my normal route up Hayhurst cut through to Shropshire Close and back home along St Anne’s. Its not my favourite time of year when the days are really short so there is no daylight time either side of work and although it hasn’t rained for a few days it’s normally cold and wet. The garden is no longer used apart from occasionally walking down to the bottom shed to dry clothes, I don’t go to my shed unless it’s at the weekend but those are busy because it’s the only daylight time we have.

The Christmas lights make the world look a little brighter for a while but it seems so false when they are all switched off in January and the weather is still cold and wet and nights are still long. I know that all sounds very depressing but that is how it makes me feel…

As we walked I noticed Jamie was impressed by colourful lights where as I preferred white light, they just look smarter, more refined and we both made derogatory comments at the houses that look like Santa took a shit all over the house and garden. I guess we will put our lights up outside this weekend (maybe Thursday or Friday if I get chance) and join in the festive tradition…

Ironically there will be no photos in this post its about looking through photos and how it makes  me feel. Every year I create “The Forsters” a calendar primarily for us but it also is a good Christmas gift for Grandparents too and the first step is to look through all our photos from this year and you soon realise that you only take photos of great times, happy times and although it reminds me of all the great moments we have had throughout the year but it also saps my confidence when I start to think that all these moments were just that moments and I become worried that I can’t make my family as happy as they look I these photos all the time. I know that is such a stupid thought to have but I always have these thoughts along with the lovely warm sensation I get too.

I have a slide show as my background on my work laptop and I find it has more benefits to see them everyday, it out ways the occasions I find my mood become melancholy…?

Today I had a dilemma that the Broncos game began at 6pm and England football team played Senegal in the last 16 of the World Cup now 30 years ago I would have been in the pub for every England game and especially one that meant something 20 years ago I may have been in the pub for meaningful games but for the last few years I have lost a little enthusiasm for the nearly men. The thing is I watched both games tonight and the Broncos were awful offensively again but had a chance to win the game at 9 – 3 with 4 minutes to go but allowed the Ravens to drive the ball down the field for a touchdown and failed to get a field goal with 28 seconds left. The Broncos are tough to watch this season but England look like they are a really good team and have so many options in great players that I have never I have never seen before and the players don’t look like the weight of playing for England holds them back at all in fact they look like they thrive in it?

We’ve go dual screen!

Next Saturday they now play France in the quarter final stage of the competition which will be a sterner test but one this squad should be able to overcome and will be interesting to watch I might need to go to the pub to watch it? As for the Broncos thankfully they have been bumped out of the Primetime slot against the Chiefs next week because that would have been a tough late-night watch against a team that will be there or there about come February and will be a lot easier to watch at 09:05pm Sunday than 01:15am Monday morning!

Today was also a recovery day again Jamie came home feeling under the weather suffering from this virus everyone has, and I have been fighting for two weeks now but I needed a lazy day, and she certainly did so with the kids at church we just vegetated on the couch for a couple hours and just about kept the day moving until we didn’t have to.

Both children seem to be thriving right now in everything they do at school and at home and sometimes I don’t appreciate what we have created until we are in the situation we were in the last couple of weeks where we had a very busy week followed by a week with just me at home unwell yet they made both weeks so easy because of the work we have done upto now! They really are turning into great human beings!!!
