You have to give it to him he has his head screwed on for a 14 year old and although it would be nice if he could fix my car in the future I would much rather have a car that doesn’t work while watching my son performing on stage!
The bathroom window is such a bone of contention with me in winter and its cold you have a shower or a bath condensation is on every surface and it needs airflow…but for fuck sake!
This morning I took Billy for a walk and as I washed him off I looked up and the bathroom window was wide open and the boiler was belting out steam and I’ll admit “I got a bit yampy”
Never thought I’d end up sounding like me parents but “Shut the bloody window DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH IT COSTS TO HEAT THE HOUSE?
Reagan just sees steam after a half hour shower so opens the window but that’s it she disappears upstairs and the whole house becomes cold!

It was 01:21 when I was the highest it was 07:21 when I was the lowest.
As a Bronco fan I am used to highs and lows but this season there have been a lot of highs non more so than last nights Divisional Playoff win against the Buffalo Bills who beat us last year in the Wild Card round. A real nail biter was won 30-33 in overtime with a Will Lutz field goal which meant jumping around the living room screaming and then trying to calm down to try and get some sleep.
This morning I was awake at my usual time just after 7am and picked my phone up to wallow in Bronco glory only to see the news that Bo Nix our quarterback had broken his leg during the game? How could this be, I watched him him walk off he was interviewed on the field after the game…?
Apparently he fractured a bone in his ankle on the second to last play of the game and will miss next weeks Conference Championship game and if we win that the Superbowl too

Stiddy looks to be one of the best backups in the league and Head Coach Sean Peyton paid him at the beginning of this season after making him his first season signing last year. You don’t do those things if you don’t trust he can play. Sean also believes he could be the number 1 QB for quite few teams but he’s our number one for the rest of the season.
When arranging Jamie’s birthday night earlier this week Karl Helen and Andy confirmed they would love to go to Il Padrino in town it sounds great
When inviting me mum the first thing she said was “Do I have to eat Italian?” lol well it is an Italian restaurant but no I’m sure they’d knock up egg and chips if you really wanted them to!
Anyway we had decided on this because the birthday girls first choice Thai would have been a real waste because mum would have declined and the kids wouldn’t have liked it which is why we went to Phantong last night.
I’ll Padrino was a huge success and everyone enjoyed the food and company and the 8 of us finished off with birthday cake made by Reagan at our house so all in all a good day especially when Jamie said she’d really enjoyed her birthday weekend which is all I needed to hear because she deserves all the very best of things every day not just on her birthday!

Knowing Jamie really wanted to eat at Phanthong I said why don’t we go out on our own for your birthday eve and eat Thai then it doesn’t matter that no-one else likes it. Thats not strictly true we’d invited me mum for Italian tomorrow night and she said yes, she would definitely said no to this and the kids would have struggled so this was the perfect solution.
So with lifts arranged to get Lincoln to and from skating and leaving Reagan baking a chocolate birthday cake off we went to Sandbach for a date night.
With reservations for 7 it would have been rude not to start the night off in the Cheese for a drink before catching the bus. A sharing platter for starters was lovely followed by green Thai curry for Jamie and red for me we both wee fit to burst as we left the restaurant an hour or so later. We caught the 10:04 bus home but not before a few drinks at Wells and Cross pub in front of a log fire, very romantical and perfect date atmosphere.
It was Jamie’s birthday celebration but its my birthday everyday married to her!

Reagan wants to be better than Mom and finds it very difficult to admit that 99% of what mom is about and has been about for 15 and a half years is making her the best she can possibly be.
As a teenager the problem comes when Reagan “thinks” that mom has taught her 1% and she can improve the rest disregarding 15 years of parenting because as a teenager she knows best!
Its a human trait we hope does not apply to our own children but we all did it we all thought our parents were too old to understand, they have no idea what it’s like to be a teenager.
The biggest issue is Reagan is so rude and disrespectful to her mom, something she would NEVER be towards anyone else, but thinks it’s OK to embarrass and degrade her mom in public whenever the world might not be revolving solely around her.
She does it to me and I shout and it stops but mom only knows love and it is awful to see her so hurt when Reagan is so unthoughtful insensitive and cruel towards the person who loves her most in the world and always will love her the most.
The last bit of that last paragraph could be Reagan’s problem she knows no matter how she treats Mom, Mom will always be there? So she tests her life skills on Mom sees what she can or can’t do what she can get away with and write an apology if Mom gets upset…
Where will it end I have no doubt it will be when Reagan goes off in to the world whether it be college or university or to make a home elsewhere and realise just how easy it was because mom had her back no matter what, would spend her last penny trying to give her the things she didn’t have as a child and guide her to being who she is today. That realisation is one part of becoming an adult and standing on your own two feet without your parents or anyone else there to help you, the tools you have then that were taught by your parents will be all you have and then you’ll see how important it was to listen and be respctful!
I just have to hope mom doesn’t kill her in the meantime…

Sometimes I don’t enjoy pool on a Wednesday because I want to win and we have struggled as a team in recent years because most of us only play on a Wednesday and don’t pick a cue up any other time.
Last night I really had so much pride in not only my team but also my captaincy and how I played a very good side. I played the first 4 hoping they played their best 4 in the first 4 frames and I was hoping we took a frame off them but we went 4 nil down which was not ideal.
Playing AK and watching him beat their last good player finally meant we were not going to get beat by a nil score but I still had my best left. CR MC and me all won making it 4 all and made them think…
I decided I was going to play the 4 winners in the pairs me and MC played the first one and there was a decision in the frame where normally I would listen to the more experienced MC but I overruled him and played a containing safety shot which meant we won the frame rather than playing the aggressive shot he was advising.
So from 4 nil down were now 5 4 up with one frame to play and although photo does not show is CR&AK won the frame making it probably my proudest night and very enjoyable. We’ve won trophies and actually won leagues many years ago but those days may be beyond this team but tonight proved anything is possible.

Lincoln got a Well Done from the Head Teacher which we are obviously very proud of him for but he made us laugh when he told us his mate Logan got one too.

I am really trying to create things and I am loving creating the storage under the stairs but this weekend I just wanted to relax and potter. So I had a little go at “dowel joints” to make a ‘perfect joint between the first slf and the storage top unger the stairs but as I do often I become disillusioned quite quickly when it didn’t go right first time…
Just make something me brother told me, a while back, when I said I get stuck when things are not perfect, so I refocussed and made a couple of trays to tidy up my drill bits. The dowel job was scuppered really because the drill bits were poor and the depth collar didn’t fit right and looking for another bit was almost impossible in the chaos.
So laid them all out of the bench measured them and organised them into sizes types and purpose designed a layout to accommodate them all and made two trays.
I really enjoyed not only making them but seeing how easy it has made locating everything in the drawer for future protects.
Tonight I was desperate to get back to the understairs project but life comes first, washing clothes taking out the bins walking Billy and cooking tea all took priority…

I love walking and do not consider myself a fair weather walker but as we enter deepest January, I look out of the window and its dark and wet I really do have to force myself to leave the house, and as I pull on my big wooley socks trying not to touch the cold floor with my bare foot then pull my boots on before layering up grabbing my hat and gloves before following a very eager Billy into the cold rainy morning or evening it sometimes feels chore
I walked to me mums this morning and it was cold wet and miserable, Billy loved it and so did I because I got to see me mum but the every day morning and evening walk does not have that joy halfway round!
