This morning I have:

Changed Reagan’s Diaper!
Cleaned out the cat litter tray!
Cleaned up after Jack on the tow path!
What a load of SHIT?

Jamie and I are having a very nice mommy daddy evening with a Carlsberg and a white wine while watching the parliamentary election!

Normal service resumes tomorrow!

Not such a good night last night for Jamie…on a better note it was a great night for Reagan who slept through again! Jamie just couldn’t settle because she was sooo good, and very quiet which meant Jamie had to check on her just incase… the joys of parenting I suppose?

We got to lie in til 09:00 once Reagan had been fed at 07:00 and we all lay in bed snoozing!
Emma called at 10 and fetched breakfast which Jamie and me were VERY grateful for and devoured in double quick time Thanks Emma! Reagan as always was never murmered while she was nursed by our geust 🙂
I tidied all through the house again today and we are beginning to see some sort of order returning but I feel our home will never quite be the same as it was before she arrived with all the masses of stuff you require for a new born all around you!
Our lives have been overtaken by tommee tippee?
Now we needed to be out of the house by 14:00 to go to Winsford library to register her birth so we decided there needed to be a plan of action. I was easy I showered and got ready then looked after Reagan while mom got ready then she gave Reagan a good feed and got her ready to go out! The trip was a very important one we were going to Register her as a citizen of the United Kingdom and get her birth certificate (We can now get an American born abroad certificate for too!
The trip proved how much more planning is required just to go to the shops etc.
I did a diaper change when we got home and put a new onesy on and a pair of comfy trousers on and she was laying there on the changing table all clean dry and sweet smell when that “concentrating” face suddenly appeared and we could hear her audibly filling that nice clean dry diaper…! So, I let her finish and repeated the clean up operation again (I am getting pretty good at it now!)
Jamie then took her to feed and straight after that Reagan spewed up on mamma she really let us have it all in a half hour period….
OK PLACE YOUR BETS on what Reagan’s first word will be?
Dude 1/100
Mamma 2/1
Dadda 5/1
10/1 bar
Last night was spent on the sofa watching the parliamentary election comedy show on channel 4 and drinking wine eating shrimp and just trying to relax!

Today was planned to be our first trip out and we were prepared when we came to leave for the store Reagan plus Grandma’s baby bag full to brimming with all manner of gear for every eventuality. We strapped her into her car seat and she nodded off to sleep before we strapped her into the car. We walked around the store met all sorts of people and got supplies, loaded up the car again strapped her in and drove home. When we got there we decided to go and feed the ducks on the canal while the weather was good so we put the shopping away and went for a walk along the canal

Last night Jamie and I went to bed at midnight and woke this morning at 06:30 because Reagan slept all night which was fantastic, Mommy and Daddy’s sleep was only broken by waking up and checking on the sleeping one. I can not go back to sleep if I stir during the night until I hear her breathing or squeek or just make a noise, once I hear that I’m good but I think she know’s and plays a little game with me because sometimes it can be 1 or 2 minutes before you hear anything and the noise comes just when panic starts to build and you go to get up “squeek” and I imagine her laying there smiling to her self….

The trick seems to be start the last feed at 11pm and feed for as long as she can or is interested then swaddle her up and we all go to bed right then. She takes a while for her to settle but then when sleep comes it seems to last? This has worked a couple of times and its early days but it was nice to know its possible already.

We find ourselves beginning to live our lives again more everyday without even noticing it the three of us together rather than Mom and Dad forgetting to do the basic things for themselves because they are 100% focused on what Reagan wants and needs. Jamie mentioned cleaning her teeth and the fact that she didn’t clean hers at all yesterday and that she had this morning and I ran me tongue over me teeth and thought damn I don’t think I did either things like that we would not have noticed a couple of days ago.
Missing meals was another thing, we just didn’t seem to have time but knew that we should eat regularly to keep our energy levels up for the person\reason we’re missing those meals for in the first place.
The house is a tip, we noticed that today too and began picking it all up and find a place for everything which there just doesn’t seem to be right now? We have to concede that before her arrival we did not see the necessity for Reagan to have a wardrobe but since she arrived her gifts from whom we will be eternally grateful mean a new wardrobe in the near future will be filled with summer dresses hooded tops pants and loads of clothes almost immediately!
For the rest of today we have to sit in and wait for a scheduled midwife visit. They are good because we get to ask her questions about things we’re not sure of or have concerns about!
Tomorrow is a big day when we register her birth in the UK because once we do that and get her birth certificate we can then register as an American born abroad too!

“I love you, mom!”

I am aware that a picture paints a thousand words but can I just add to those 1000 words here:

  • Become a mom
  • Just got out of very HOT relaxing bath
  • Just had a lovely tea
  • Glass of wine
  • Glass of Fibrogel (if you don’t know look it up)
  • THEE best chocolates ever (thanks Julie & John!)
  • RELAXED

“So Jack, remember a few days ago when we were the main attraction?”

“I do Sasha, but they’ll get over it they always do!”

“You’ve just got to be patient!

We had a good night last night, Reagan didn’t feed till late and we got to bed at midnight so Reagan was content and sleeping until 04:30 Jamie got up and fed for an hour and put her back down and we all slept again till now 09:00 when I got up and left the other two asleep and they’re still there now 09:31 so no early morning shift for me today which I am glad about but it’s tinged slightly with disappointment because I do love to watch Reagan sleep

Last night before bed we had a great half an hour of family time we sat Reagan, upright on the sofa she was wide awake and we watched as she seemed to be learning to move her arms & legs kicking with one leg then the other punching with her arms and the doing all them together. All the time she was giving a little squeak of joy and a smile but mostly she was watching in wonder as she moved her limb they would pass her face and if she did it again the same thing happened…these moment for Jamie and me remind us what the the tough times are for!

Now I mentioned smiling and we were told at this stage its probably wind but last night Jamie was feeding and she melted when Reagan stopped, looked up at her and smiled another moment that makes you forget the tough times. This morning I had a similar experience when I was nursing her and she just looked at me and a smile broke across her face so I immediately understood what Jamie was talking about.
The other thing we are bowled over by is Reagan’s fascination in everything but especially light or flashing lights, we know she can’t focus or see much further that 12″ to 18″ but light mesmerises her and I try to imagine all the things she is sensing and how its all being processed in that innocent mind. That all blows our minds and we are beginning to enjoy all this and were only on day 5…
We bathed her for the first time at home and it was another mom dad experience to cherish and make us think we can do this?

My time, I had to have some today I was shattered I got on the bed and didn’t stir for an hour and a half then had hot bath it was bliss and I came out fighting fit which is as important right now so I can ‘do my bit’ when required to…
Jamie as a mommy is thriving, it is a pleasure to be part of it. She is taking to it like a natural and she would do anything for our child but I have to slow her down still and make her rest but she’ll learn that there is still mommy time. So tonight once Reagan was fed I ran her a bath and sent her away to relax while I cooked tea and looked after Reagan who actually just watched the Simpsons and took a nap!

3 hours of bliss we are sat her after tea enjoying each other company relaxing with the telly on while Reagan sleeps it’s been a fantastic day!

Mommy and Reagan being kept warm by Grandma!
(I watched this for nearly 90 minutes tonight and it was wonderful, just out of shot were two more Grandma made blankets covering the sleeping two!)
Thank you Pam, it was definitely worth it!
